Caring for Pets Has Always Been Her Calling
Dr. Kristin Fornara is an Arizona native whose family moved here prior to Arizona becoming a state. Dr. Fornara wanted to be a veterinarian from the early age of 3, and growing up her favorite game to play was “Animal Hospital”, with her many stuffed toys. Dr. Fornara was also no stranger to real animals as her family owned a ranch where she had pet dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, a horse, a pig, a cow, and a chicken. Dr. Fornara was always asking her parents if she could care for injured or abandoned animals and give them a forever home.
From Arizona to The Ohio State University
Dr. Fornara earned her Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness from Arizona State University, then pursued her veterinary degree at St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine and The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Returning to her home state, she began her veterinary career at the same clinic where she once worked as a technician. After excelling in general practice, she became Medical Director at an AAHA-accredited animal hospital in the East Valley. For nearly a decade, she honed her expertise in dog and cat dentistry, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, preventative care, and diagnostic lab interpretation.
Launching Phoenix Mobile Veterinarians
In 2022, Dr. Fornara co-founded Phoenix Mobile Veterinarians with her husband, Dr. Mark Caldwell, to bring top-tier veterinary care directly to pet owners across Scottsdale, Phoenix, Paradise Valley, and Mesa. While their mobile vet services bring convenience to pet owners’ doorsteps, their Scottsdale animal hospital offers advanced in-hospital care including dog dental cleanings, cat dental cleanings, wellness exams, and at-home euthanasia.
A Passion for Dentistry and Collaboration
Dr. Fornara is especially skilled in canine and feline dentistry—including advanced oral surgery—and believes in educating clients about the “why” behind every treatment plan. Her collaborative approach helps pet owners make informed decisions for their pets’ health.
Awards & Recognition
In recognition of her dedication, Dr. Fornara was awarded the Commission of Kentucky Colonel in 2023 for her international veterinary volunteer work with her husband. Phoenix Mobile Veterinarians has also been voted Best of the Valley for veterinary services.
Life Outside the Hospital
When not caring for patients, Dr. Fornara enjoys life with her husband, their two sons, and a lively household of pets—four dogs, one cat, and ten chickens. She loves spending time at her family’s ranch, horseback riding, fishing, hiking, scuba diving, and traveling.
