Veterinarian
Dr. Kristin Fornara is an Arizona native whose family moved here prior to Arizona becoming a state. Dr. Fornara wanted to be a veterinarian from the early age of 3, and growing up her favorite game to play was “Animal Hospital”, with her many stuffed toys. Dr. Fornara was also no stranger to real animals as her family owned a ranch where she had pet dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, a horse, a pig, a cow, and a chicken. Dr. Fornara was always asking her parents if she could care for injured or abandoned animals and give them a forever home.
Dr. Fornara attended Arizona State University for her undergraduate studies where she received a Bachelors in Agribusiness. After graduation her passion for animals led her to St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine and The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduating, Dr. Fornara returned to her home state of Arizona where she got her first job as a veterinarian at the same clinic where she was once a technician. After practicing for a couple of years Dr. Fornara received the opportunity to become the Medical Director at a sister clinic where she was able to grow not only her medical skills, but management experience. For the next 9 years Dr. Fornara would serve as the Medical Director and lead Veterinarian at an AAHA- accredited, small animal hospital in the East Valley. It was during this time that she met her now husband, Dr. Mark Caldwell. Although, Dr. Fornara was grateful for this hospital experience she wanted to give her patients and clients more. She soon realized that to offer them the level of care and customer service she desired, she would need to open her own practice. This led her to start Phoenix Mobile Veterinarians with her husband, Dr. Mark Caldwell, where they could provide the highest quality medicine for their patients and best customer service to their clients. In 2022 Dr. Fornara left her corporate position as Medical Director and started her new journey as the co-owner of Phoenix Mobile Veterinarians.
Dr. Fornara has a passion for canine and feline dentistry and is proficient in oral surgery. She also enjoys soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, preventative medicine, and diagnostic lab work interpretation. She loves explaining the “why” so together she can create a collaborative experience for her clients while making the best choices for her patients. Dr. Fornara is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, and in 2023 received the commission of a Kentucky Colonel for her volunteer work in the veterinary medical field with her husband.
When Dr. Fornara is not helping pets and their families, you can find her spending time with her husband, her two sons, and her multiple pets which include 4 dogs, 1 cat, and 10 chickens. Her and her husband share a passion for international animal volunteer work where they can combine animal care with their love of travel. She loves taking her sons, husband, and dogs to her family’s ranch where they work cattle, ride horses, and fish. She also enjoys scuba diving, hiking, and cheering on her favorite sports teams.
